About this course
Most of us carry more stress than our bodies were built for — and we get used to it. Over 12 weeks, Dr. Mark Halpern shows you what stress actually does to your brain and body, and gives you a practical set of tools to change how you respond to it.
You'll learn what's happening inside you when you're under pressure, then build a toolkit you can use in the middle of an ordinary day: heart-focused breathwork, techniques for steadying yourself in the moment, and ways to shift your mood on purpose rather than waiting for it to pass. Along the way you'll look at how movement, sleep, sound, colour and time outdoors either drain your energy or restore it.
This is a live course in a small group, so you practise together and bring questions as they come up. No experience needed.
This course supports general wellbeing and stress management. It is not medical or psychological treatment and does not replace care from a doctor, psychologist or licensed therapist.
Program
Weeks 1–3: Understanding what's happening What health really means and how posture, the nervous system and stress are connected. The four kinds of stress — physical, chemical, emotional and electromagnetic — and how the brain adapts to them. Brain waves, the autonomic nervous system, the hormones and chemicals of stress, and the honest question of whether anxiety can become a habit you're attached to.
Weeks 4–6: Building your toolkit Getting neutral, heart-focused breathwork, and steady practice. What coherence actually is: heart rate variability, heart–brain communication, emotional self-regulation and resilience. Then the HeartMath approach, biofeedback technology, and the Quick Coherence technique you'll use for the rest of the course.
Weeks 7–8: Working with emotion Which emotions renew you and which deplete you, and how to practice an emotion on purpose. Neurological interrupts and the Freeze Frame breathwork technique for shifting your state in the moment.
Weeks 9–12: Coherence through the senses How the body creates coherence through movement, touch, sleep and how you sit and stand. What you see: vision, color, and building a vision board. What you hear: noise, the words you use, music, and sound frequencies. And finally nature — water, mountains, and a clear look at what drains your energy and what restores it.
How group courses work
This is a live cohort course. It runs once at least 5 students have signed up (up to 10 seats). You reserve your place first; you only pay once the group is confirmed and a start date is set. Because a cohort is scheduled around confirmed students, fees are non-refundable from the point the group forms.
