A realistic first month sets you up better than an ambitious one you abandon in week two.
Weeks one to two: sounds and survival
Start with the five vowels and basic pronunciation, plus a stock of everyday phrases you can actually use. Sounding clear early builds momentum and confidence.
Weeks three to four: frequent words and the present tense
Add the highest-frequency words and enough of the present tense to say simple, true things about your life. That's a genuinely useful milestone for a month in.
Build a daily habit
Short and consistent beats long and sporadic. A little every day — even ten minutes — is the whole trick, and it's what separates people who keep going from people who stall.
Don't rush the grammar
Resist front-loading rules. Get talking with what you have and let the structure fill in behind it — comprehension and use first, tidy grammar later.
