How to Practise Speaking Spanish When You Have No One to Talk To

You don't need a conversation partner to practise speaking — you need reps. Here are methods that work solo.

Self-talk and narration

Describe your day, your plans, and what you're doing right now — out loud, in Spanish. It feels odd at first and it's one of the most effective free habits there is.

Shadowing

Play native audio and repeat it immediately, copying the rhythm and the sounds. Shadowing trains pronunciation and flow at the same time, with no partner needed.

Record yourself

Talk, listen back, and pick one thing to improve. It's uncomfortable — and it's one of the fastest ways to hear what your speaking actually sounds like.

Prompts and tools

Describe photos, think aloud through a task, or use language-exchange apps and voice assistants for low-pressure output. The point is volume of speaking — anything that gets you talking counts.
