Angelika Egloffstein-Becker
Meet Angelika
Angelika has spent nearly 30 years teaching German — to seventh graders, to high school students sitting AP and IB exams, and to business professionals preparing to relocate to Germany. She holds a B.A. in Secondary Education with a major in German and an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction, and she taught German at Carmel High School in Indiana for seventeen years, including AP and IB classes, while chairing the World Language department.
Her work reaches well beyond her own classroom. She has served as a consultant for the College Board's AP German programme since 2010 and works at the annual AP exam reading as a Question Leader. When the pandemic closed schools, she created 42 daily online lessons for AP German students around the world, and went on to lead the College Board's AP Daily project for German.
She was elected President of the American Association of Teachers of German for 2024–25 — the national body for German teachers in the United States — after serving as Vice-President, and previously led the Indiana Foreign Language Teachers Association as President. She has co-authored textbooks and teaching materials for Wayside Publishing, Klett and the Goethe-Institut, and has presented workshops across the United States and in Germany.
